Porridge Portraits

For the Scottish Mental Health Arts Festival, we ran Porridge Portraits at RAMH, turning porridge into faces that expressed people's feelings. View the full gallery here.

Porridge Portraits was created by RAMH as part of this year’s Scottish Mental Health Arts Festival – a fun but meaningful project inviting people to express their emotions by turning a simple bowl of porridge into a face.

The project has now come to an end, but we’re delighted to share the full gallery below. It showcases the thoughtful, funny and heartfelt creations contributed by individuals, families and groups across our communities.

About the project

During the Festival, we invited people to decorate their porridge with whatever they had on hand – fruit, nuts, seeds, chocolate chips – to capture a portrait that reflected their mood. The result is a collection which shows the feelings of everyone who took part.

We’re incredibly grateful to everyone who took part. Your creativity, honesty and willingness to join in helped spark gentle conversations about mental health and brought people together in a wonderfully accessible way. See the full gallery of submissions below.
