self-management boxes

Over the past few weeks we have been really interested in talking to people about mental wellbeing toolboxes. We have a group of busy bees working hard on a steering group and then have been out co-facilitating focus groups to ask these questions:

  1. What matters to you?
  2. How can you make the things that matter to you into something practical that you can put in a toolbox to help you to self-manage?

We have had a great response with almost 30 people sharing their views and ideas, getting involved in really interesting discussions and the steering group now have lots to work with. We have spoken to social groups, women’s groups and today we spoke to 13 men who told us how their experience is different and described the boxes that would best support them.

People said that family, being connected to others, achieving goals, hobbies, music, exercise, journals, hope and self-belief were important to them in their lives and gave us some great ideas about how we could turn these into items within a self -management box.

If you didn’t manage to get along then we will be running a webchat soon watch this space if you would like to have your say!!

The next step is for the steering group to capture the main themes and put together some example boxes for people to pilot. These will be ready by May so if you are keen to take part in the pilot then you will get the chance very soon!

Thanks to everyone who took part, your input was so valuable and we can’t wait for you to see how much this helps other people. 🙂
