The First Crisis Service is looking to recruit workers with a sound experience of supporting mental health issues. You will gain valuable experience in crisis work and develop your knowledge in crisis interventions. The service provides support via telephone and by face-to-face contact with clients. This is an opportunity to get additional training and experience in this unique area. We can offer a variety of shifts. The service operates 9am-8pm on Monday to Friday and 9am-5pm Saturday and Sunday.
You will require at least 2 years’ experience of supporting people in the community who experience mental health problems, and require an appropriate qualification to a minimum of SVQ III or equivalent. Successful applicants will be required to work (following extensive induction) on their own initiative, and as a Senior your role is to lead the provision of support to clients in crisis as part of a small team. You will be required to quickly assess the support needs of clients, carry out risk assessments and decide on appropriate courses of action. Excellent verbal communication skills are essential, as is the ability to keep clear and concise records of your client contact, both electronic and written. You will need to be able to evidence experience of crisis intervention work and it is desirable for you to have attended Scottish Mental Health First Aid, ASIST and/or Safetalk training. You must be able to follow rigorous procedures and protocols to keep the people who use the service safe, and deliver required outcomes to reduce risk for service users.
