Volunteer – Recycling – Textile Seamstress/Seamster

  • Title: Volunteer – Recycling – Textile Seamstress/Seamster
  • Location: Renfrewshire
  • Closing date: April 30, 2021

Hours: A minimum of 9 hours per week – Expenses will be paid as required

The RAMH Reuse Superstore in Causeyside Street has exciting new volunteering opportunities within our REstore Service.

We are looking for volunteers with an interest in reducing waste in textiles.  Almost 100% of household textiles and clothing can be recycled, regardless of quality of condition. The outcomes of this would be a higher level of affordable good quality textiles being made available for sale, as well as a reduction in landfill.

We are looking for confident and reliable volunteers who would be tasked with the assembly of made to measure thermal lined curtains for our clients. We will be working with Housing Associations to provide various items for their tenants who may be in fuel poverty. These items may include draught excluders for doors and windows as well as the curtains. Fuel poverty is a reality for many families in Renfrewshire. Any savings that can be made on fuel expenses keeping homes warm, will make for happier and more comfortable homes.

If you have a minimum of 9 hours per week to donate (two 4.5 hours days), please telephone the service coordinator on 0141 237 7600 who will be happy to answer any questions or arrange to show you around the store.

The REstore service delivers a high quality service to service users and the public, therefore we need volunteers who are able to use their initiative and take the lead in helping us deliver our service. As we have a very small staff team we are only able to offer a limited number of highly supported volunteering placements, due to Health & Safety.

Application packs can be obtained by telephoning the RAMH Recruitment line on: 0141 847 8910 and quoting the ref no 659 or can be downloaded from this page.
