Ayrshire College collaborative opportunities
Our Chief exec Peter was joined by Joe Bowie from our Recovery College this week at the Kilmarnock Campus of Ayrshire College.
They were invited by the Principal Angela Cox, to highlight the potential for collaborative working between Ayrshire College and the Recovery College. They met with Shirley Laing Director for Lifelong Learning and Skills, at the Scottish Government as well as having the time and opportunity to talk to Anne Campbell the Vice Principal, Doreen Wales Assistant Principal and student Experience and Quality Enhancement and Wendy McColl Head of Student Experience.
Peter said – ‘RAMH is so pleased to have a connection with Ayrshire College, and our thanks go to Angela and Doreen for making this happen. We know that the main barrier for people seeking support for their Mental Health, is the stigma that surrounds the subject. Being based in the College helps remove that stigma. The people that use our service become just another person on their learning journey. It is a fantastic template for good mental health support and one RAMH would gladly replicate.’
Joe added – Hopefully I done everyone justice especially the peer group at the college as there is so much potential in our team. It was a privilege to represent the college and I believe from the discussion that the value of what we do has not went unnoticed. Lastly thank you Jeanette for having faith in me to represent staff, peers and students. It was a pleasure to put all that I have learned into practice, for the college.
