Suicide Prevention Day with Walk Lighter

We are really pleased to be working alongside Ciara and “Walk Lighter”  again this year for World Suicide prevention day. The day itself is on the Tuesday 10th of September and we will have small events in Renfrewshire and East Renfrewshire open to anyone who may have lost a loved one to suicide and would appreciate support. On the day we will be having a short walk and planting trees of remembrance that will then remain in both our community gardens throughout the year as a safe quiet place for people to use.
In addition on Saturday the 14th we will be joining Walk Lighter at Barshaw park, walking to the peace garden where there will be a short period remembering those lost to suicide with the support on the day from “Friends of Barshaw Park”. The walk lighter group meet monthly and are a great peer support for those who may need it.
The theme for World Suicide Prevention Day is “Changing the Narrative on Suicide” with the call to action “Start the Conversation”. So that starts with us and having these opportunities to join together for support.
